J. Krishnamurti: Knowledge & Transformation – Freedom from the Known Podcast Ep. 1
J. Krishnamurti and Dr. Allan W. Anderson explore transcending the degeneration of our culture through individual transformation.
This talk was originally recorded in 1974 at San Diego State University
In this inaugural episode, J. Krishnamurti and Dr. Allan W. Anderson illuminate:
The degeneration of literature, art, religion and culture
Undergoing radical transformation on an individual level
Moving from fragmentation to wholeness
The oneness of society and individual
The non-temporal relationship between action and understanding
Cultures of superficiality without any ground in the beauty of goodness
The limits of knowledge and finding freedom from it
What it means to end knowledge and be in the present
The brain’s impulsive function to record
Being a light to oneself
About J. Krishnamurti:
For nearly six decades until his passing in 1986 at the age of ninety, Jiddu Krishnamurti traversed the globe, delivering spontaneous and captivating discourses to large audiences.
Krishnamurti assumed the role of an investigator rather than an authority figure, encouraging individuals to question assumptions and explore the depths of their consciousness. His extensive body of work, estimated at over 100 million words, spans more than six decades of relentless inquiry and dialogue. His teachings, compiled in numerous books and translated into multiple languages, continue to inspire seekers worldwide, inviting them to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery and understanding.
J. Krishnamurti’s legacy endures as a guiding light, offering timeless wisdom for those who dare to challenge conventional thinking and explore the complexities of existence.
About Allan W. Anderson:
Dr. Allan Anderson was a poet, author, Professor Emeritus, beloved teacher, scholar of the Oracular Tradition, and a gifted religious linguist. He helped to form the Department of Religious Studies at San Diego State College in 1969. Dr. Anderson later became chair of that department, specializing in Eastern Religions, until his retirement in 1985.

Cymatic patterns are the 2D version of what reality is in 3D. Cymatic patterns are only a slice of more complex patterns. Slice an apple horizontally in half and you see a 2D cymatic pattern, the whole apple is a completed pattern.

Generally individual fear from the collective but all collective are following and Learning through individuals but they don't like them. Namaste🙏 Is there a book form of these talks? I'd really benefit from reading these over and over than listening. Quite fascinating concepts...none novel to me since I'm born and raised in a spiritual family in India but I haven't ever come across such lucid elaboration on approachable metaphysics. Thanks for sharing these incredible talks. Jai Maharajji 🙌

Sri Ram's name repetition accomplishes everything but it's also true that you need divine grace to be able to chant his name. And how to attract divine grace...? Purify the heart by chanting his name! Life is cyclical and a circle after all.

Not a single person has ever clicked a Ram Dass video and wanted to not hear Ram Dass. Please stop adding your “intros”, they’re not relevant and not what people want when they click a Ram Dass video. Make your own videos, and if people want to listen they will. But this feels dishonest and weird to add your thoughts when no one asked. Thank you

I am so sorry for saying this, but not a single viewer has ever clicked one of your videos and been happy to hear you speaking. People come here to hear Ram Dass, not you. It’s unethical and wrong to insert yourself at the beginning. If you must insert yourself, please do it at the end or make separate videos. Again, no one wants to hear what you have to say when they click a Ram Dass video. Thank you!

I listen. These are all words I am familiar with. I’m not familiar with the ideas ,concepts, truths that these words are trying to describe. For these words to make sense, I need already to understand those ideas, concepts and truths. One needs to understand,to know…for these words to make sense. Move out of abstraction. Wisdom cannot be taught. It comes from the experience of living. Adams House NHS. 1962

As much as I love Ram Dass, it is disappointing to discover he had a sexual relationship with a girl in her 20s whilst he was in he was 50 (as he was in this speech). As a young woman I can confirm that the odds of there being a significant power imbalance. As much as I heal through his lectures it has become clearer and clearer over time that he did not have a healthy relationship to his body, as he has been open about in many of his talks, and I believe there is little to justify going for a girl that is young enough to be your daughter. I stopped listening to Alan Watts because of his blatant misogynistic views on women which leaked through in his talks, I must admit this will make it harder to listen to Ram Dass as well. Tho I do know he grew a significant amount with age and was a man born in the 30's it is disappointing. A man in his 50s should have the compassion to not look at a girl in her 20's with lustful eyes, we should meet father figures from men in their 50s, not sexualisation and sexual interest.
